You can help improve media literacy and support our other work at the Fresno State Institute for Media and Public Trust by making an end-of-the-year donation to the Institute. In 2020, we focused on identifying fake news involving the election and the pandemic and added a new program to train journalists of color to help diversify local newsrooms. Our institute is self-sustaining and we need your help to continue our work. Your donation is tax deductible.

To contribute online, go to this link:

Fresno State giving.

It is Fresno State’s secure, online donation form. This part is crucial to make sure your donation goes to the correct account. Select ‘View All Giving Opportunities,” scroll down to ‘Other’ and then click on ‘Other’ and write in “Institute for Media & Public Trust.” Follow the remaining instructions. Let us know if you have any issues in making the online form work.

To send a check, make it out to the Fresno State Foundation. In the memo line, designate that the donation is for the Institute for Media and Public Trust. Mail checks to the College of Arts & Humanities at Fresno State, Development Office, 2380 E. Keats Ave. M/S MB99, Fresno, CA 93740-8024.

In the coming year, we will be focusing on media literacy projects to empower news consumers, continue our training program to bring students of color into the news industry, bring in national experts on news trends and expand our other work to give the public a place to ask questions about the news content they are consuming locally. We also will be continuing to call out “disinformation” and “misinformation” in social media. Those issues will only worsen as technology and social media sites make it easier to share phony content.

Please join with us. We’d love for you to be a part of our quest to improve news coverage, and hold news outlets and social media sites accountable. You can help make a difference by donating today.
